PHIL LEFT DOVER ON 24TH APRIL. BY 12TH MAY HE WAS IN ST AUSTELL!!! HE HAS HAD ONE BIKE STOLEN BUT IS PERSERVERING!!! READ THE STORY BELOW

Hi guys out there!  My name is Philippe Marshall.  I am going on an adventure – cycling around the British Isles……but I need some help.  I would appreciate your support in prayer, finance and practical support in the form of equipment.  I am giving half of any money I raise to Hope into Action, so your money will be supporting two excellent initiatives.  Please read on…

What Am I Doing?

I am going to cycle from Dover, along the south coast, heading west towards Lands Ends. From there I will follow the coast round Cornwall, Devon, Somerset and on into Wales.  Continuing along the coastline around Wales, I will then head further north, still following the coastline, all the way up to Glasgow.  From here I will cut across to Edinburgh, and then follow the coast all the way back down to Dover.

When Am I Doing It?

My adventure will begin April 22nd!

Why Am I Doing It?

7th February 2013 was the last time I took Methadone, which ended a long and sometimes dark relationship with hard drugs.  This journey will help to completely cleanse me in body, mind and spirit – it’s part of me getting, and remaining, clean and getting away from temptation.

Jesus went into the wilderness to be with his Father in spirit…..and that’s what I want to do.

As part of my spiritual journey I find a lot of peace in the great outdoors.  Being on my own will allow me to reflect and find myself.  I just need to get away from prescriptive drugs like Methadone, and other drug users who try to tempt me.   I want to find time to come into contact with God.  I would like to find my real purpose in life.  To find out who I am.

I have always thought to put other people before me, and I just want an opportunity to do something for myself for once and concentrate on me.

How Can You Help?

I have already gathered a lot of things (helmet, puncture repair kit etc.), but there are things that I still need: a Sat Nav, outdoor gear (clothing), camping equipment (stove, gas cylinders, tent). I would also appreciate any help in the form of prayer and financial sponsorship.  I expect to complete my adventure in 5 months and can live on £15 a day.  I have saved enough for a month’s running cost.  I am therefore looking to raise £1800 to finish.

Please donate LARGE  amounts of cash to Hope Into Action who will then send it across to me when I need it. This can be done by sending money direct to Hope Into Action, 3rd floor Midgate House, Midgate, Peterborough, PE1 1TN, or online at www.hopeintoaction.org.uk (please also email liz.hallam@hopeintoaction.org.uk to confirm the amount donated, so that HIA ensures the money is allocated to the Road Trip fund).  HIA will manage the fund on my behalf and ensure that it is used appropriately.

My church and HIA are right behind me in this and will support me in prayer and practical needs. I have been in a HIA house for the last year or so.

Thank you for your assistance in advance, all my love

Phillipe
