Hope into Action currently runs 2 houses in Lincoln each linked with a local church housing 4 tenants.
According to the City Council’s homeless strategy, 789 homeless applications from households were received by City of Lincoln Council between 2008 and 2012. 591 of these households were accepted as being homeless in the same period. Most of those accepted as homeless were young people aged between 16 and 24 (46%) and to 44 (43%). On average households aged between 16 and 24 accounted for 50% of acceptances. 60% of acceptances were for lone parents with children.
The most common reasons for loss of their last home in Lincoln according the council are:
- Friends/relatives no longer willing or able to accommodate
- Relationship breakdown – violence involving a partner
- Termination of assured shorthold tenancy
- St Peter in Eastgate Church
